Getting Married at Camden Town Hall

Camden Town Hall is not actually in Camden, you’d have thought the clue was in the name right?! The newly refurbed Camden Town Hall (looking fabulous btw) is actually in Kings Cross. It turns out this is not a deliberate and sneaky trick to throw wedding photographers off their game. It turns out that the Camden Town Hall is in the Borough of Camden. Well, it takes more than word play to throw off this London Wedding Photographer! This is exactly the reason why I always do a recce before a wedding. The Town Hall, opposite The St. Pancras Hotel has had a major refurb and facelift and is now all clean lines and shiny marble.

I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing weddings all over London and the UK for over a decade but this was my first visit to Camden Town Hall. Shiva and his lovely bride to be arrived separately to The Town Hall. I was on hand when Rachel and her sister arrived, always a fun moment. Shiva and guests were seated in The Heath Suite.  The Heath Suite is a lovely room, similar in size to Marylebone Old Town Hall’s Westminster Room. It comfortably seats 100 or so guests, with air con and plenty of natural light.

The Camden Town Hall has a magnificent interior marble stair case. The stair case is similar to the one at Islington Town Hall and perfect for a portrait or two.

Wedding Portraits in Camley Street Natural Park

The wedding ceremony went by a flash, a couple of lovely reading, rings and an ‘I Do”. Rachel and Shiva had decided they wanted confetti at The Depot N7, their wedding reception venue rather than at Camden Town Hall. Therefore, we did a fun family group portrait session and got on our way to The Depot. On the way to The Depot we stopped at Camley Street Natural Park. This is a nature reserve, a unique little oasis next to the canal in Kings Cross. You can access the nature reserve from the awesome Kings Cross Coal Drops Yard development. The walk between through Coal Drops Yard and down the canal tow path to the nature reserve was a delight. This was a perfect opportunity for low key and unposed portraits.

The Depot N7 Wedding Reception Photographer. Carpenters Mews, North Road, London N7 9EF

We arrived to The Depot N7 where all the wedding guests were lining the cute cobbled mews leading to the venue. The bride and groom were showered in confetti and had a glass of bubbles waiting for them at the end. The Depot N7 is one of my favourite North London Wedding Reception venues. The bar is open, split level and has wonderful natural light. There’s bare brick walls and shabby sofas, it’s all very cool.

The wedding party all tucked into ridiculously tasty canapes while I nipped into The Depot to photograph some of the details that had gone into the planning of the day. The cake, the table settings and flowers were all arranged by Rachel, some serious skills on show here! Before long we were into dinner and speeches. This Camden Town Hall wedding and Depot N7 reception was a joy from start to finish. After speeches there was a swift room change to make way for dancing and the DJ. Soon the cake was cut, Espresso Martinis poured and everyone packed the dance-floor.
