Documentary wedding photography at The Peasant Pub in Clerkenwell is always a treat. Hayley and Stu hit the jackpot for their Peasant Pub Wedding in Clerkenwell. Events kicked off at Hayley’s family home in Upminster. I arrived to find a super-chilled bride and bridal party getting ready.Hayley had customised clothes hangers for the girls, nice touch. Hayley’s dad had organised a special white cab to take him and Hayley to Islington Town Hall. Meanwhile, I hitched a ride with the groom and his boys on a vintage London Double Decker. A great deal of bubbles were doing the rounds – happy days.

Islington Council Chamber Wedding Ceremony
The service itself took place in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall. This is a wonderful circular room flooded with natural light. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and emotional. After the ceremony hayley and Stu and I nipped into the marble corridor for some portraits. This gave the guests time to gather outside ready for confetti. Family group photographs were on the steps outside the Town Hall.

The bus journey is only ten-minutes drive to The Peasant on St John Street, Clerkenwell, EC1, for the reception. The Peasant Pub is a cracking wedding reception venue. It is the sister pub of The Londesborough in Stoke Newington, where I shoot a lot of weddings. The Peasant has the same lovely relaxed vibe, and is full of quirk and character with brilliant service and some very tasty food.

After a few celebratory drinks everyone headed upstairs for dinner. After a terrific set of speeches – tears and laughter in equal measure, it was time for cake cutting and dance floor madness. Fuelled by copious amounts of Jagermeister. I left the party in full swing, with a packed dance floor and Stu and his boys outside puffing on fat Cuban cigars.
