I’m John – a documentary style wedding photographer covering Stoke Newington Town Hall Weddings and working across London and the South East as a whole. Stoke Newington has some wonderful wedding venues that I’m happy to say I know well. Clissold House in Clissold Park is run by the slick bunch at Hackney Venues along with Stoke Newington Town Hall, which is another of my Stoke Newington favourites. If you are after a church wedding in Stoke Newington N16 then St. Mary’s next to the park is stunning. The Old Church is another little Hackney gem of a wedding venue. The little chapel is bang opposite St. Marys Church and next to Clissold Park. The chapel retains many of the old churchy elements like the stone pulpit (excellent for wedding speeches!) but is deconsecrated and now an event space. Check out my Journal Page to see examples of my Stoke Newington Weddings.
Dalston Wedding Photographer
My style is documentary, unposed and natural wedding photography. I prefer to capture real moments throughout your day. A leisurely stroll is perfect for beautiful portraits and I’m always happy to take some formal family groups. Low key, fun and relaxed for a stress-free wedding day. If you are planning a pub wedding reception then The Londesborough Pub on Barbauld Road N16 is well worth a look. I know the team at The Londesborough well and and my family and I often indulge in the best Sunday roast in Stokey. The Londesborough run a fab party and serve delish food, their sister pub The Peasant in Clerkenwell is equally great.
I work across Islington, Westminster and Hackney and am recommended by many of the leading North London wedding venues. Dalston is the cool younger brother of Stoke Newington. Gillett Square in Dalston is home to Jones and Sons. This restaurant is super popular and has a useful annex room perfect for a band or DJ to set up in. Jones and Sons in Dalston is well worth a look if you are a foodie and after a cool wedding reception venue. Have a look at Prices Page and drop me a line if you fancy a chat about your Stoke Newington Wedding plans.

I’ve lived in Stoke Newington for many years, so you can’t get a more local wedding photographer than me for your Town Hall wedding.
I’m proud to say that I am one of the very few wedding photographers that are recommended by Hackney Venues – the organisers of weddings at Stoke Newington Town Hall. I’ve covered hundreds of weddings at London & South East venues over many years. I am a local Stoke Newington and It is great to be able to work at many of the leading and most in-demand North London wedding venues.
My Wedding Photography Style
As a wedding photographer, I cover weddings in a documentary or reportage style. Throughout the day I’ll take candid photos of you and your guests. This enables me to take photos of unique moments, from the joy and laughter to the emotions, and possibly some tears along the way.
I typically cover weddings from the groom(s) getting ready/bridal preparations right through to the cutting of the cake and the first dance. For me, this is the best approach to creating genuine pictures that depict your wedding and your relationship together as a couple.
History of Stoke Newington Town Hall
The current Stoke Newington Town Hall building was completed in 1937. The town hall has a distinctive curved front facade with Italian Renaissance style details. There are also some 1930s art deco interior details in the Council Chamber and the Assembly Rooms. It was used as local government offices for most of the 20th century but fell into disrepair and was completely refurbished in 2010.
Stoke Newington Town Hall now hosts the local registry office and is a venue for wedding ceremonies and events. The Assembly Rooms are available to hire too and can accommodate over 500 people.
Stoke Newington Town Hall Weddings
Stoke Newington Town Hall weddings are managed by Hackney Venues, which also runs other London wedding venues such as Clissold House, Hackney Town Hall, the Glass House and a new venue which is launching soon called The Chapel.
The Council Chamber is the primary room for civil ceremonies at Stoke Newington Town Hall. It can host 83 people seated on the ground floor and it is a stunning setting with a vintage style for anyone who wants to get married in North London.
The Town Hall is located on Church Street, which is near to many other places which would be ideal for your wedding reception.
You have the option to have your wedding reception in the Assembly Rooms or one of the many function rooms, restaurants or bars locally. This includes a particular favourite of mine – The Londesborough – a Victorian pub that has a reputation as one of the best North London pubs and is definitely worth checking out. It is also worth considering The Prince N19 and a new venue called the Clarence Pub.
