Are you planning a Hever Castle Wedding?

Kent is known for its magnificent castles and beautiful English countryside. When couples begin looking for a Kent wedding venue, Hever Castle is definitely one to consider. Its Italian garden and stunning architecture make for the perfect setting for your wedding. Oh, and its got a lake!

My name is John Sanders and I am a documentary wedding photographer based in the South East of England.

Places like Hever Castle make my job easy! It is one of my favourite wedding venues. With its 38-acre lake, the castle offers several options for your wedding ceremony and backdrops for your cherished wedding portraits. There are many wedding venues throughout Kent, but none have the style and atmosphere of Hever Castle.

After the ceremony, the bride and groom can wrap up their perfect day by going for a walk through the gardens. Watch the fountain and explore the grounds as you walk toward the castkle. The beautiful gardens add to the ambience of the castle and make it a perfect place for a honeymoon. Many couples book the 5-star accommodation so they can stay a day or two longer. A huge draw of Hever Castle is that it is only an hour and half outside London. It’s even less than that if you are starting from East London. If you are thinking about booking Hever Castle for your big day? Do you want a fun and relaxed award winning wedding photographer that knows the venue ? Have a look at my Portfolio Page to see some of my recent weddings including my last visit to Hever Castle.

The History of Hever Castle

Originally built as a country house in 1270, it is the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII. The country house underwent several stages of construction until William Waldorf Astor acquired it in 1903. Astor restored the castle and had the Astor wing added. An American millionaire, Astor built the Italian garden and upgraded many of the home’s features. Broadband Properties Ltd. purchased the castle in 1983. The Guthrie family manages the property as a public tourist attraction and venue.

Hever Castle holds a wealth of history. All three floors are full of antique furniture and artefacts that date back to the time of Henry VIII and the Boleyn family. Although the original house has been altered, its original beams are still visible. The gatehouse is the only part of the property that hasn’t been changed. The Guthrie Pavilion is one of the newer additions, along with the Yew Maze and the beautiful fountain. From its years of disrepair, it now shines as one of the favourite wedding venues in the UK.

Weddings and Events at Hever Castle

As a bride and groom, your wedding day is one of the biggest in your life. As a London wedding photographer, I look for the unique and the stunning. Hever Castle brings the 13th century into the modern world. The rich colour of the gardens and the magnificent architecture throughout the castle makes it the perfect wedding venue.

The gardens, Guthrie Pavilion, and various parts of the castle itself are available for public use. The Astor Wing provides ample space for almost any type of event. The beautiful staircases and doorways are ideal for first-look photographs. Scheduling a tour of the castle and grounds will give you an excellent idea of what opportunities are available for wedding photography. As a Hever Castle wedding photographer, I will be able to assist you in making those plans.

John Sanders, Your Hever Castle Wedding Photographer

My name is John and I have been a Hever Castle wedding photographer for many years. I have a documentary-style approach, always looking for unposed, natural shots that show the couple as they are. I have spent several years honing my skills and looking for the perfect backdrop or scenic view that best tells the story of the wedding couple.

A photographer works to capture a moment of true emotion. Posed photographs can be stiff and take away from the personality of the couple. When I take pictures of a wedding, I do everything I can to put you at ease. I look for opportunities where you are relaxed and at ease. These are the photographs that tell the true story of your wedding album.
