Johh Sanders // London Wedding Photographer

I am a London-based Documentary Wedding Photographer. For me, it’s always been about people and light. I have been behind a camera for my entire professional life.

Over ten years ago I was asked to photograph a friend’s wedding. I didn’t want to be a shouty and overbearing wedding photographer so I just floated about the wedding with my cameras.

Needless to say, I loved it and my friends were thrilled with their wedding pictures.

A Bit About Me

Here’s a pic of the Sanders gang, taken on a recent dog walk in Hampstead. Another of my fave parks is Abney Park in Stoke Newington. Hackney Venues is soon to open a new wedding venue in Abney Park – The Old Church. The Church in Abney Park has been a ruin for many years and is currently covered in scaffold and having a complete makeover. Power and water are being piped in so a professional kitchen can be installed at the church. The cute couple had a stroll through Abney Park on their way to The Clarence Tavern for their wedding reception.

My Wedding Photography Style

Documentary wedding photography condenses everything I love about being behind a camera: people, stories, raw emotion, plus some pretty splendid locations to boot.

Unposed and Natural Wedding Photography

I know how precious your wedding imagery is because I have been there myself. Sixteen years ago, I married the love of my life, Beth, in a gem of a church in London’s East End, Our Lady of the Assumption in Bethnal Green. So I know how it feels to be on the other side of the lens, and how much those images matter. Believe me, if you think you care about your wedding pictures now it’s nothing to how you’ll feel about them in a decade’s time. They are an investment worth making (I know, I’m a London wedding photographer, I would say that, but it’s true nonetheless!).

Over 10 Years Of Experience As A Wedding Photographer

Many wedding couples prefer to rely on guests with their iPhones or ask an amateur pal to photograph their big day. I believe this is a false economy. I look and feel cool, calm and collected when I photograph a wedding because I know where to be and when to be there. I have years of experience in wedding photography and love what I do. Your favourite wedding image will often come from a moment you had no idea was being photographed. It is that skill, energy and twenty years of experience you are paying for.

Since getting hitched, Beth and I have set up a home in Stoke Newington, Hackney. Along the way, we have acquired two junior decorators (or children, as Beth insists on calling them). We also have a cat, who is no help whatsoever on the renovation front. A new member of the family arrived over lockdown. Otter is a black Labrador, high on cute points, low on IQ! Otter and I can often be found in Abney Park Cemetery as it’s her favourite spot for a walk. When I haven’t got a camera in my hands, or a child that needs ferrying somewhere I play tennis and run in Clissold Park. I also enjoy an odd pint of Guinness and mucking about in my old Landrover Defender.
