I’m John – a documentary style wedding photographer covering weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall and across London as a whole. I regularly photograph weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall and know the Westminster wedding venue very well. That said, all weddings bring their own particular flavour and style so I am always finding new angles for switch it up. The steps of Old Marylebone Town Hall are fabulous for confetti, bubbles and family group pictures. The side streets and the cute mews behind the Town Hall also lend themselves beautifully to wedding portraits.

My style is documentary, unposed and natural wedding photography. I prefer to capture real moments throughout your day. A leisurely stroll is perfect for beautiful portraits and I’m always happy to take some formal family groups. Low key, fun and relaxed for a stress-free wedding day.

I work across Islington, Westminster and Hackney and am recommended by many of the leading North London wedding venues. If you are planning your own Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding then I would love to hear you plans, drop me a line.

Are You Getting Married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall?

Old Marylebone Town Hall is a very popular London wedding venue that is ideal both for small intimate weddings as well as larger celebrations with up to 100 guests. Also referred to as the Westminster Council House, the venue is the perfect place to hold your wedding ceremony. Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of my favourite venues as a North London wedding photographer.

History of Old Marylebone Town Hall

Construction of the Old Marylebone Town Hall began in 1914. Located at the end of Marylebone Lane, the Town Hall houses many public offices as well as a large library. The Westminster City Council continues to meet at the Town Hall. The town hall also houses the Westminster Register Office, where the registrar maintains vital public records. Many famous couples have chosen the venue for their weddings, including Sir Paul McCartney to Linda Eastman and Melanie Griffith to Antonio Banderas.

In 2012, the London Business School took possession of Old Marylebone and began to refurbish it. The facility opened its doors again in 2018, complete with a steel and glass connecting structure that brought together the library and the town hall. The oldest structures of the town hall are Edwardian and Graeco Roman types of architecture. The combination offers the venue its own unique style and grandeur.

Weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall

As an Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding photographer, I have been honoured to photograph all types of weddings there. From a small ‘You Plus Two’ wedding to the larger celebrations of up to 100 guests, the town hall allows you to choose the perfect room for your wedding day. Each of the venue rooms has its own atmosphere and level of elegance. From the compact Paddington Room that seats 8 to the much larger Westminster Room that seats 100, every room provides the beauty and luxury that makes them the perfect setting for your wedding. The Soho Room and Knightsbridge Room offer mid-size areas. You also have the option of the Mayfair Room, Marylebone Room, and Pimlico Room as well. The You Plus Two is ideal for an elopement when a larger ceremony room isn’t needed.

The town hall has a regal stature that comes with it being a public or governmental office. The beautiful hardwoods and the rich colours throughout the entire building offer the best settings for many of your traditional and intimate wedding portraits. The town hall offers many different backgrounds that can be used to add texture and depth to your wedding photos. Let’s be creative, throw some confetti, and look for backdrops that will allow you to stand out and literally shine on your most amazing day of days.

John Sanders Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photographer

I absolutely love being an Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding photographer. Although this is not one of the oldest venues I have photographed, it is one of the most unique. The staff there work diligently to provide each couple with everything they will need to create the perfect setting. From the small intimate ceremony to the larger, more extravagant affairs, I am able to access every inch of space that is needed to create the most beautiful wedding photography.

Throughout the town hall, there are many areas that can be used to create the perfect setting for some of the most touching wedding images I can capture. Whether you choose to take your traditional wedding portraits inside the town hall or outside among the flowers, I am able to bring out the best in every feature. The numerous opportunities for one-of-a-kind photos are why the Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues. It allows me to use my creative skills to produce both candid and traditional wedding portraits that will stand the test of time.
