Union Club Wedding Reception in Soho
The Union Club. 50 Greek Street. London. W1D 4EQ
Emily and Rory got married in the Westminster Room of Marylebone Old Town Hall. The stylish couple then drove to The Union Club, in the heart of London’s Soho. The wedding car? A vintage convertible Beetle, fabulous even with the top down in February! This was my first visit to The Union Club on Greek Street and actually my first Soho wedding in a while. The Union Club is a cool private members club. The venue is a town house and has multiple rooms over three floors. There’s lots of open fires, polished floor-boards and dark romantic rooms. There’s also a cute little garden space, perfect for naughty smokers and I’d imagine a delight in the summer.

The wedding day started at Marylebone Old Town Hall. Rory and Emily had booked the Westminster Room for their wedding ceremony. I’m very familiar with this Westminster Town Hall and regularly photograph weddings of all sizes here. The weather was looking typical for February, cloudy, windy and wet. But, some of my all time favourite weddings have been in the rain. There’s something beautiful and romantic about a newly wed couple snuggled under a brolly. Thankfully the rain held off so Emily and Rory were able to exit the town Hall and make use of the iconic exterior steps.

The wedding guests all jumped onto a London Vintage Double Decker Bus, destination Soho! The bride, groom and I (plus brother in law and proud owner of 1965 convertible Beetle) all jumped into the car for a drive to The Union Club. I took a few fun pictures as Emily and Rory enjoyed a glass of champagne with the roof down, once again we got lucky with the weather.

When we arrived at The Union Club on Greek Street it was four o’clock ish and the evening light was drawing in. Soho comes alive when the sun goes down so we nipped for a little stroll around Soho for some relaxed and natural portraits. I like to pop in a little flash occasionally to evening portraits. I’ve always loved the Hollywood starlet glamour vibes.

Soho Private Members Club Wedding Reception
Wedding guests were enjoying drinks in the main lounge of the Union Club. The bride and Groom were announced into the room and I was on hand to capture the celebrations. Due to the multiple rooms and floors of The Union Club the wedding reception spread itself through the house. I was able to float through the party, unobtrusively photographing the guests, the delicate moments often missed in the noise.
