The Old Church in Stoke Newington is a wonderful wedding reception venue. The Old Church is bang opposite St.Mary’s Anglican Church. The super cute chapel is a 2 minutes walk from Stoke Newington Town Hall. This fab little venue is the oldest Elizabethan Church in England and sits right beside Clissold Park, useful for wedding portraits. It no longer functions as an actual place of worship, its been deconsecrated. This fabulous Chapel is now a full time event space and gallery. I truly don’t know why this awesome venue isn’t Stoke Newington’s busiest wedding reception venue.

The Old Church in Stoke Newington has a beautiful private garden that is perfect for wedding cocktails. If there is such a thing as a ‘cute grave yard’ then The Old Chapel has one! Clissold Park and Clissold House (another awesome wedding reception venue) are easily accessible via a pretty lane. I often go for a post wedding stroll around Clissold Park with a bride and groom for wedding portraits. Clissold Park has gorgeous Weeping Willows and bull rush ponds, its a very pretty park. The ancient lane that runs between The Old Chapel and Stoke Newington Town Hall is another useful and convenient walk for a portrait or two, cocktail in hand with the noise of celebrations in the back ground. Clissold Park also has a great kids play ground which comes in useful for young families when kids get a wedding weary!

One of my favourite features of The Old Church in Stoke Newington is the original pulpit. This raised lectern is fantastic for wedding speeches. I recommend dropping in the venue some time to really get a feel for the place. Stoke Newington is an attractive area to tie the knot. Islington Town Hall is only 20 minutes away and Hackney Town Hall even less.
