Getting Married at Hackney Town Hall

I met Kate and Julian on the morning of their wedding at their beautiful Hackney home, a quick 5 minute walk from Hackney Town Hall, where they were tying the knot. Bride and Groom were in varying states of readiness. Julian already suited and booted, Kate managing to look fabulous but still in trackie bums. No pre wedding anxiety or panic in this lovely household, just a cool bunch of mates getting ready for an awesome day.

Best East London Wedding Venues

The sun shone as Julian made his way to a local pub for a pre-wedding pint with friends and family. The Old Ship Pub is a perfect spot for pre Hackney Town Hall wedding drinks. The alley way behind the Old Ship leads directly to the front of the Town Hall and misses busy Mare Street traffic. Kate walked the short distance to Hackney Town Hall with a very glamorous entourage and we all convened in the Committee Rooms for the service.

The wedding went without a hitch with a beautiful reading and some very moving vows. The committee rooms at The Hackney Town Hall are my fave rooms in this iconic East London wedding venue. The wooden panelling provides a warm and flattering back ground to all the pictures and the side lighting from the huge windows lets in a ton of natural light. The walk from the Committee Room to the main entrance is always a highlight. The magnificent Art Deco interior is a gift for portraits, no posing needed, just a stroll to the confetti waiting outside. A quick group picture on the fantastic sweeping steps outside the Town Hall followed, all in the shadow of the historic Hackney Empire. The guests then made their way to the reception venue at Stoke Newington’s Londesborough Pub on Barbauld Road N16.

The Londesborough Pub Wedding Reception

Kate, Julian and I (+ fabulous reflector holder Kerry) remained for some relaxed portraits before we joined the gang at the pub for glasses of bubbles and celebrations. The Londesborough is right up there as one of my fave London pub wedding reception venues. The food is amazing and the staff are wonderful. The pub has such a cool vibe, great for a party. The drinks, dinner, speeches and dance floor mayhem made for a particularly wonderful wedding bash. I would like to thank the Bride and Groom and all the guests for making me so welcome. I wish Kate and Julian all the very best.
