Getting married at Stoke Newington Town Hall

Eva and Gonzalo celebrated their wedding at Stoke Newington Town Hall. The fabulous Londesborough Pub – one of my fave Stoke Newington pubs hosted the wedding reception. Stoke Newington Town Hall is part of the Hackney Venues Group. The Town Hall is located directly next to Clissold Park which is perfect for Mr and Mrs portraits after the ceremony. The Town Hall in Stoke Newington is a very stylish wedding venue. It gives a nod to art deco and 1930’s glamour. The Council Chamber in Stoke Newington Town Hall can seat 83 guests. There is a fabulous balcony – often used to keep the naughty bunch together that seats 50 or so. The assembly Rooms is a huge wedding space capable of seating 250 wedding guests. The Stoke Newington Assembly Rooms has been unavailable for some time due to maintenance but is due to reopen this spring (2022).

I met Eva on the morning of the wedding in a beautiful Air B&B apartment overlooking The West Reservoir near Clissold Park in N16. Eva was having the final touches made to hair and make up before her bridesmaids and mother joined forces for ‘Operation Wedding Dress’. The nifty use of a crochet hook enabled the exquisite dress to fit perfectly and as a result Eva looked absolutely gorgeous. The bridal party was finally ready to go to Stoke Newington Town Hall.

Where to go for a drink before a Stoke Newington Town Hall Wedding?

I made it over to The Rose and Crown pub – conveniently situated directly opposite the Town Hall on Church Street. Gonzalo, his father and other guests were enjoying a quick pre-wedding pint. Then we all made the short walk to the Town Hall on Stoke Newington Church Street where Eva and Gonzalo tied the knot in a suitably romantic fashion. The Council Chamber has plenty of natural light from both sides. I tend to stay to the periphery of the room during a wedding and there is plenty of room for me move around without disrupting the ceremony.

After confetti and a short family group portrait session on the stunning Art Deco steps of the town hall, I accompanied the bride and groom (plus trusty bridesmaid assistant) on a leisurely wander through Clissold Park and the Stoke Newington back streets until we reached The Londesborough, capturing some lovely relaxed images along the way. Glasses of bubbles, dinner and speeches all followed along with a traditional Chilean Handkerchief Dance which was fantastic – check out the pix! I left a packed dance floor – Shakira if I remember rightly – and would like to wish both Eva and Gonzalo all the very best in the future.
