Wedding Reception at The Coin Laundry in Exmouth Market

The Coin Laundry is a stylish split level bar at the end of  Exmouth Market. Miranda and Steve got married at Islington Town Hall in the Council Chamber. They then celebrated in The Coin Laundry, eating fabulous food and dancing till late. I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing weddings at both these venues, it was lovely to return.

Exmouth Market Coin Laundry Wedding

Islington Town Hall is a 10 minute bus or taxi journey from The Coin Laundry. This makes the cool Exmouth Market venue an excellent wedding reception choice for any Islington Town Hall Wedding. I met the groom Steve in The Vineyard pub which is bang opposite Islington Town Hall and a popular starting point for an Islington wedding. Steve and his son and guests were all enjoying a pre wedding tipple before heading over to Islington Town Hall.

The Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall is a particular favourite of mine. I love the circular room and the high windows that provide such flattering natural light. The team at Say I Do Islington always run a great wedding, with style and emotion high on the list. I love that every wedding I photograph has its own unique elements. Steve and Miranda had a Cornish choir singing during the signing of the register. This one really got me, not a dry eye!

I like to take a portrait or two of the newly minted Mr and Mrs in the marble corridor next to the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall. A couple of quiet minutes gives the guests a chance to make their way outside ready for confetti. Miranda and Steve wanted a romantic walk through Islington to The Coin Laundry Wedding Reception venue, the rest of us jumped on a vintage Red Double Decker.

Wedding Venues in Clerkenwell London

When we arrived at The Coin Laundry there were tables already set up and drinks and canapes circulating. This awesome couple had a crisp eating compulsion, a true love of crisps in all favours. The tables were named after some of their fave brands. [If you’re interested, my faves are Pickled Onion Monster Munch] I usually do family portraits on the steps of Islington Town Hall after the ceremony but in this case we waited until we reached the cute little park behind the bar. If you’ve not been to Exmouth Market I recommend having a poke about. There’s a ton of nice restaurants, pubs and cafes along with some cool shops.

Cool Central London Wedding Reception Venues

Steve, Miranda and I went for a little stroll along Exmouth Market. This is my preferred style for couples portraits, nothing too posed, all easy and natural. Once we returned it was speeches and then onto the dancing in the basement of the bar.

The speeches at this wonderful celebration were amusing and emotional in equal measure. I like to stay to the periphery of the room during speeches so I don’t get into eye-lines. I don’t use flash as it’s distracting.

The basement space at The Coin Laundry has its own bar and made a perfect dance-floor. Rather than a traditional first dance Miranda and Steve jumped on the mic’s and did some karaoke. They absolutely smashed ‘Islands in the Stream’ out the park!
