Award Winning Muswell Hill Wedding Photographer
Ruth and Kane live a stylish new build block in Muswell Hill . The fun North London couple were getting ready for the wedding day in apartments overlooking Alexandra Palace. Kane and the fellas were doing battle with black ties and cuff links with varying degrees of success. A decision to up the ante with shots of Limoncello was well received! The groom and ushers left in a cab for Islington Town Hall where the wedding was being held a little later in the day.

Starting Your Wedding Day in Muswell Hill
Ruth and the bridal party were in the production line of hair and make up. The sun was shing, a rarity for London in October and the view of Alexandra Palace from the balcony was magnificent. Gradually the ladies moved from PJ’s to bridesmaids dresses and the day began to take shape. Ruth’s father arrived, a true Scot looking fab in his kilt. The ‘First Look’ is becoming a popular wedding day moment. I was on point to capture the moment Ruth’s father saw his beautiful daughter in her dress, a special moment.

Islington Town Hall Council Chamber Wedding Photographer
There was a Scottish piper playing his bag pipes to welcome Ruth and her dad. Kane was looking super dapper and waiting in the circular Islington Town hall Council Chamber. I love the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall, the light is warm and flattering. High set windows let beams of sunshine filter into the room and on a sunny day the effect is quite magical.

The North London wedding was a thing of beauty. The ‘Say I Do’ Islington wedding team really know their stuff and before long Ruth and Kane skipped out of the Council Chamber as man and wife. I often suggest to couples to nip into the gorgeous marble corridor for a few natural portraits immediately after the ceremony. This gives guests a chance to make their way outside ready for confetti on the steps of the Town Hall. A vintage double decker bus was waiting to whisk (move slowly through appalling London Traffic…) to Alexandra Palace where we all hopped off for family group portraits.

If you live in North London then Alexandra Palace will be on your radar. Alexandra Palace or Ally Pally (as its colloquially known) is a huge sport and music venue right at the top of Muswell Hill. It is an iconic venue with breath taking views across London. I’ve walked my dog (cute but very stoopid black lab) in the grounds of Ally Pally. My kids have played mini golf and ice skated there at various parties over the years and I’ve seen some of my fave gigs including Primal Scream there.

Ally Pally Wedding Portraits
The aim was to take a fun ‘everyone’ photo followed by a selection of family groups with the London Skyline as a back drop. The bridesmaids were super helpful in helping coordinate the various family groups and before long we were walking back to the bus. I like informal portraits, just a stroll with a wedding couple. The walk back to vintage red double decker bus was a perfect opportunity for some stunning portraits with the sun setting sun behind Allly Pally.

The Three Compasses Pub Wedding Reception in Hornesy
The Three Compasses, 62 Hornsey High Street, London, N8 7NX
I love a pub wedding reception. Some of my favourite London wedding reception venues are pubs. The Three Compasses in Hornsey has just jumped onto my leader board. The Vintage Bus dropped off all the guests at the large Victorian main bar. Kane, Ruth and I nipped of to their local park for some portraits as the sun set, producing warm long shadows with plenty of flare – magical.

Hornsey Pub Wedding Reception
The Three Compasses in Hornsey has an attractive front bar with plenty of seating and tons of natural light. The back of the pub has a restaurant area that the wedding gang had set up for their reception. After the speeches; emotional and amusing in equal measure I left the awesome party. Huge congratulations go to Ruth and Kane and a warm thank you to their families for making me so welcome. Are you planning your own Muswell Hill Wedding?
