Getting married at The Estorick Collection Gallery

This was a very Islington wedding. Zoe and Michael chose The Estorick Collection Gallery to host their wedding reception. The wedding ceremony was in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall and the party went on late at Little Bat, a cool cocktail bar just off Upper Street. I’ve had the pleasure photographing many weddings in Islington Town Hall. This wonderful building has a magnificent marble staircase and rooms to suit all sizes of wedding. Michael and Zoe chose three fab venues for their North London wedding, all conveniently walkable – very clever.

Islington Council Chamber Wedding

The large exterior staircase outside Islington Town Hall is wonderful for confetti and group pictures. The bride and groom wanted an alternative style wedding with less of the traditional wedding features. But, we did do a quick family group portrait session on the wide stairs. After celebrations and hugs the whole wedding party walked the 5 minute journey to the Estorick Collection for the wedding reception. Estorick Gallery is a stunning town house in Islington North London. The Gallery is light and bright and runs beautiful exhibitions specialising in modern Italian Art. There is a gorgeous private terrace outside the gallery, perfect for drinks reception. Zoe and Michael planned a very relaxed wedding schedule, no dashing around. The walk between Islington Town Hall and The Estorick Collection was great fun and a perfect opportunity for some natural and unposed portraits.

Islington Wedding Reception Venues

A pizza truck was parked outside The Estorick and provided delish food through out the wedding reception. There was no formal sit down meal rather a relaxed few hours drinks in hand. Speeches were equally informal and very amusing. I was loved the chilled nature of this wedding and enjoyed floating around the party. The gallery space was included in the hire so guests were able to enjoy wandering through the various gallery spaces enjoying the art.

As the sun dipped Zoe, Michael and I nipped out to a cute park for some portraits. I never like to take a bride and groom away from their party for long so we just did a circuit of the park and then returned to The Estorick Collection. The party moved to Little Bat, a cool little cocktail bar which is a 5 minute walk from The Estorick. The walk itself was fun, all the excitement of night time Upper Street. Little Bat had been hired in its entirety and a DJ was playing a lovely mix of tunes. The cocktails were amazing and the whole party felt pretty glam. Little Bat in Islington has a ‘Speak Easy’ sort of vibe, lots of dark corners and table lamps. I moved around the venue discretely photographing the party.

I left the party around 11.30 and would like to thank Zoe and Michael for making me so welcome. Are you planning your own Estorick Collection Gallery wedding?
