Getting married at Islington Town Hall
Valentina and Antonio got married at Islington Town Hall and held their wedding reception at Fredericks Bar, a short walk from the Council Chamber. I have had the great pleasure of photographing a great number of weddings at Islington Town Hall. The gorgeous sweeping marble staircase is always a centre piece to any Islington wedding. The Council Chamber is a particularly attractive room with beautiful light. The sun shone for this April wedding as guests arrived to the Town Hall ready for the wedding ceremony. The bride, Valentina had booked my wedding photography during the lock down so this was the first time we had actually met – very rare for me not to have had a meeting before the big day.
Fredericks Bar Camden Passage wedding Reception
This Islington wedding was a very cosmopolitan affair. The bride and groom were Italian, the guests spoke a mix of Spanish, Italian and French. Thank god they all spoke perfect English otherwise I would have been in a right pickle! Once the wedding ceremony had finished the bride and groom nipped into the marble corridor next to the Islington Town Hall Council Chamber while their guests went outside to the steps. I took the opportunity to grab a some relaxed and natural portraits as the guests passed around confetti or in this case rice. The families had actually forgotten to bring any confetti so they nipped to Tesco for a large sack of Basmati – perfect!

Fredericks bar in Camden Passage is a family run restaurant, cocktail bar and wedding reception venue. The iconic venue is Islington royalty as far as bars go. As well as hosting fabulous wedding receptions it also provides complete wedding services with registrars marrying couples on site. One of the reasons I love Fredericks Bar so much is its location in Camden Passage. Camden Passage is a a cute cobbled and pedestrianised lane full of chic boutiques and antique shops. It’s a 10 minute walk from Islington Town Hall through the back streets of Islington to get to Fredericks. This fun walk if perfect for natural and unposed portraits after the wedding.
