All Saints Church Putney Wedding Photographer

Melody and Dickie got married at All Saints Church in Fulham and commissioned me to be their wedding photographer. Fulham, Chelsea, Putney and Battersea all sit alongside each other in South West London. All these boroughs are equally chic, stylish and expensive and lay claim to some of London’s finest wedding venues. The All Saints Church on the corner of Putney Bridge is a particularly attractive church with beautiful grounds and a tiny patch of woodland perfect for portraiture. Melody and Dickie commissioned my documentary wedding photography skills for their big day in July 2022. This wonderful London couple were after a laid back wedding photographer that provides natural and unposed photography. Outside of the family groups and couple of Mr and Mrs portraits I floated about the party capturing imagery of the friends and family having the best day. All Saints Church for the wedding and The Hurlingham Club for the wedding reception, perfect. This was shaping up to be an old school London stylish wedding – huzzah!

My wedding day started with a visit to Melody who was surrounded by her bezzies and in the final stages of getting ready. It was a hot day, 30 degrees so there was no dashing around. The wedding dress went on at the last minute and excitement was building. I tend to float about for pre wedding photography and everywhere I went in Melody’s home there was someone else getting ready or chilling with a cool drink. While I was enjoying capturing pre wedding bridal photography, my pal and second photographer Josh was with the groom and his fellas. An ushers lunch had been planned, along with dropping orders of service at All Saints Church in Fulham. I don’t often use a second photographer but when I am asked I have a pocket full of talented up and coming photographers to call on.

The Hurlingham Club Fulham Wedding Reception

Joshua, my second photographer and I reconvened at The All Saints Church next to Putney Bridge. This fabulous church was made famous by The Omen film that had a chilling scene set here. Thankfully there was little sign of Anti Christy behaviour so Dickie and the boys were able to meet and greet guests as they arrived for the wedding service. The bride arrived with her parents but had chosen to walk down the aisle on her own. The All Saints Church has plenty of space down the sides which is perfect for enabling photographers to move quietly and discretely around. I leant a long time ago not to wear leather soled shoes in old churches as the clip clop noise is off putting, rubber soled shoes all the way! The wedding ceremony went in flash and before long confetti was flying and guests were making their way to The Hurlingham Club for the wedding reception. The Hurlingham Club is only a 10 minute walk from the All Saints Church so most of the guests did just that.

We stayed behind at the All Saints Fulham church for some family group portraits. Family Portraits – I am a relaxed, documentary photographer or wedding photojournalist but virtually all the weddings I photograph have a small element of formal family portraits. I take these portraits seriously and am quick and concise so everyone can get on with the party! Taxis then ferried us to The Hurlingham Club for the wedding reception. The Hurlingham is an exclusive and luxury private members Club. The large Fulham private members club is known for its exceptional sports facilities including a swimming pool, cricket pitch and multiple grass tennis courts. As well as the sports facilities The Hurlingham has a wonderful Ball Room and perfect manicured grounds for London Weddings. I have photographed a number of weddings at The Hurlingham and am always blown away. The front steps of The Hurlingham are perfect for a large group picture so everyone greeted the bride and groom as they arrived. Melody and Dickie wanted a few relaxed portraits in the grounds so once they had grabbed a glass of fizz we nipped off for a stroll.

Stylish and Exclusive South West London Wedding Reception

There is a ton of stunning terrace and lawn at The Hurlingham Club. This is perfect for a pre dinner wedding drinks. Guests strolled through the grounds alongside the resident peacocks, champagne in hand and all smiles. Melody, Dickie and I enjoyed a little walk through the grounds with the setting sun behind the couple. I photographed some natural portraits of the handsome couple with a minimum of posing. I like to photograph portraits with the sun behind a couple, its less squinty and very flattering. We returned to dinner and speeches. I grabbed a bite during the meal as I needed to recharge my own batteries! The Hurlingham Ball room has a spacious dance-floor and a DJ provided the vibes and tunes.

Favourite South London Wedding Venues

I am based in Hackney in East London. East London had some fabulous and super cool wedding reception venues including Hackney Town Hall and Finsbury Town Hall. If you are after Old School London charm then South London offers up some world class wedding reception venues. Kew Gardens is an iconic venue with the huge Glass house, The Nash Conservatory standing front and centre. I have photographed numerous weddings at The Nash Conservatory at Kew Gardens. The stylish South West London wedding venue is amazing in summer as well as winter. I recently photographed a gorgeous November 5th wedding at Nash Conservatory, candle light and super romantic. Another fave of my is The London Rowing Club. This cool building is on the Thames in Putney and overlooks the river, which is handy when you are rowing club…A very special feature of The London Rowing Club is the external balcony that overlooks the river. This is a perfect spot for summer wedding cocktails, portraits and watching fireworks.
