London Manor House Wedding

Clissold House is an Edwardian Manor House in the heart of Hackney. Stoke Newington is a stylish borough of Hackney and boasts its own Town Hall, another fabulous wedding venue managed by the expert wedding team at Hackney Venues. The Clissold House is set in Clissold Park, a lush green space with two ponds, a pretty bull rush river and weeping willows. Once upon a time Clissold Park would have been the private garden of the manor house. Now the park is public but accessible for wedding portraits and guests.

Stylish Hackney Wedding Venues

This stylish Stoke Newington mansion has an beautiful interior with an awesome spiral staircase. The wedding rooms are light and bright, overlooking the park. There is a convenient private entrance to Clissold House. Wedding parties usually arrive to this private entrance, walking through the rose gardens to get there. Lou and Eddie chose Clissold House as they are Hackney locals and love the Stoke Newington park. Lou arrived by taxis, her dapper son and the girls were all waiting to greet her. The sun shone as the wedding party walked through the pretty rose gardens to the cool Hackney wedding venue.

The front of Clissold House has classical pillars and lovely little terrace. The area can be hired and used for confetti and family group photography. There is a slightly sloped lawn in front of the manor house that works perfectly for a big group wedding picture. I like to take natural and unposed wedding portraits. Because Clissold House is slap bang in the middle of Clissold Park its super easy to go for a stroll around the grounds for Mr and Mrs portraits. This is exactly what Lou, Eddie and I did. As the guests enjoyed drinks on the terrace we took ten minutes for some fun portraits. The staff at Clissold House were busy converting the ceremony room into a dining room ready for dinner late that evening.

Abney Chapel wedding photographer

Hackney has some of my fave wedding venues. Hackney Town Hall and Stoke Newington Town Hall are both monuments to Art Deco and the starting point of many a fabulous wedding. Stoke Newington has terrific pub wedding reception venues including The Londesborough and The Clarence. Abney Park Cemetery is a wonderful East London treasure. Built at the same time as Highgate Cemetery, Abney park is ram shackle, over grown and magnificent. Its strange to think of a cemetery as romantic but I recommend you take a stroll round one day. In the centre of Abney Park is Abney Chapel. For many years this wonderful old church has been derelict. In exciting news, The Abney Chapel is in the final stages of redevelopment and on the books of Hackney Venues! I cannot wait to photograph a wedding at this amazing venue, particularly as Abney Park is very close to my home.
