Stoke Newington Socially Distanced Wedding
I have photographed a number of ‘Covid Themed’ weddings this year but this was my first Stoke Newington Covid wedding. I am a proud Stoke Newington resident so Stoke Newington Town Hall is a regular wedding venue for me. Due to social distancing rules the usual seating layout had changed. Sadly the art deco balcony in the Council Chamber is closed off. Kamila and Matt had downsized their London wedding plans in view of this and had just their nearest and dearest.
Stoke Newington Town Hall Wedding
Stoke Newington Town Hall is very similar to Islington Town Hall. Both the two neighbouring East London wedding venues have a circular Council Chamber. Both the Town Halls have Art Deco styling and grand staircases but only Stoke Newington Town Hall has the remnants of camouflage paint on the exterior. Why on earth the naughty Germans would want to bomb Stokey is beyond me but in 1940 someone in Hackney council clearly decided they did!
Hackney Wedding Venues
Kamila and Matt refused to let any global pandemic ruin their wedding. The original plan was a big Stoke Newington wedding followed by a Peasant Pub wedding reception. Covid scuppered this plan so instead they postponed their pub wedding reception to 2021 and booked a fabulous private dining experience at Marcus Wareing’s Gilbert Scott Restaurant at St.Pancras Renaissance Hotel. Not too shabby!

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing Kamila and Matts wedding, Covid masks and all. Like most wedding photographers I have had a vast amount of postponed weddings this year and expect 2021 to be very busy.
