Dorset wedding. I met the lovely couple, Kate and Rory, when I photographed Kate’s sister’s wedding in 2016.Thankfully I must have made some sort of impression as fast-forward to May 2017 and I am in a stunning medieval church on the Jurassic coast photographing Kate and Rory as they tie the knot.
The day began at the splendid Pig on the Beach Pub and Guest House, where I met up with Kate and her six bridesmaids while they got stuck into wedding preps, having their hair and make up done and drinking the odd glass of bubbles. Kate was looking fabulous and distributing gifts to all her gang.
The Pig is a quick walk from the both the church and reception venue – Harry Warren House – convenient for both photographers and women in heels! Two vintage Morris Minors (apparently Morris Minors need to be bought in pairs as one is always on the blink…) bedecked with ribbon waited to whisk the bridal party to the church, where Rory and the fellas were meeting and greeting the guests.
Rory heralds from the North East and, along with his ushers and Best man, looked suitably dapper in traditional Northumberland Tartan. The service was wonderful, a choir and soloist performed and finally the sun shone. After confetti, the wedding party made their way to Harry Warren House – a handsome country retreat with extensive grounds and access to a secluded cove. After a family group portrait session, Kate, Rory and I nipped off for some relaxed portraits, making use of the cute beach huts and lush surroundings.
Next up were speeches – in a nice break from tradition, these happened before dinner and alfresco, in a wonderful natural amphitheatre in the grounds. Dinner and a terrific Caleigh followed.
I left the party later in the evening and would like to thank Kate and Rory and all the guests for making me so welcome.
