West Country Wedding Venues

I have had the privilege of photographing at some amazing West Country wedding venues. Although I am a London based documentary wedding photographer I’m actually a West Country boy. I started life in Taunton in Somerset and moved to London for Uni many moons ago. Travelling down to Somerset or Devon to photograph a wedding is therefore a particular treat for me.

Babington House Wedding

I am going to share some of my photography and insights into 3 of my fave West Country wedding venues with you; Babington House, Huntsham Court and Bridwell Park. Lets start with Babington House, near Frome in Somerset. Babington House is a fabulous Somerset wedding venue with its own private chapel. This majestic Georgian Manor House is off the beaten track and very self contained with a beautiful swimming pool and tennis courts, in short – very private and therefore popular with the celebrity set.

Huntsham Court Wedding

Huntsham Court is a stunning Manor House tucked away in Devon. The manor house is only a couple of hours out of London and therefore popular as a West country wedding getaway. This Devon wedding venue can sleep up to 92 guests and has a maze of beautiful oak panelled rooms. I photographed Ollie and Heidi’s wedding at Huntsham in 2019. This chic London couple had a lovely idea to set up pop up bars in various rooms through out the building – happy days! A particularly nice Huntsham Court treat is the opportunity to go clay pigeon shooting on their land. Wedding guests were invited to don wellies and barbers and shoot clays. This was a particularly nice way to fill the morning hours before an afternoon of wedding festivities.

Bridwell Park DevonWedding

Bridwell Park wedding venue is a Georgian Manor House in Devon with a private chapel and I’m privileged to be on their preferred suppliers list. This exclusive Devon wedding and wedding reception venue has a large estate with its own herd of deer. I am often asked to try to have the deer in the back ground of a Mr and Mrs portrait, thankfully more often than not the deer are visible, I dont think my Doolittle skills are up to it! Bridwell Park has the feel of a grand family home. I photographed a wonderful Devon wedding for Yoogee and Ed last year. This cute couple had a Korean themed Friday bash followed by a tradish Saturday wedding. The fab staff at Bridwell ran and catered for both events in fine style and made my West country visit an absolute pleasure.
